Sports News –The Europe football governing body UEFA has lauded a move by a Kenyan court to block out all websites infringing on copyrighted Tv sports content in the country.
The permanent blocking which commenced recently was initiated to protect content owners of their broadcast rights.
In June 22, MultiChoice Kenya, with support from UEFA, managed to obtain a historic ruling from the High Court in Kenya which required a series of internet service providers ISP to disconnect all websites that perpetrate sports pirate for financial reasons without proper licenses.
In 2019, Multichoice Kenya filed a legal suit seeking to compel ISPs to restrict live sports streaming services on their networks.
And following an initial interim phase of the court process, the High Court, on June 23, 2022, imposed a permanent injunction compelling certain ISPs in Kenya to permanently block the unscrupulous sports pirate websites.
