The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced that it has revoked the appointment of 33 teachers across the country.
In a Gazette notice dated February 5, TSC Chief Executive Officer Nancy Macharia announced that the move was made in accordance with the powers granted under Section 30(2) of the Teachers Service Commission Act.
“In exercise of powers conferred by section 30(1)(e) of the Teachers Service Commission Act, Chapter 212 of the Laws of Kenya, the Commission wishes to notify the public that the persons whose names are specified in the Schedule herein below have been removed from the Register of Teachers pursuant to the provisions of section 30(2) of the Teachers Service Commission Act,” the Gazette notice read.
As per the Act, any individual who is deregistered will immediately cease to be considered a teacher and will not be allowed to engage in teaching services in any capacity, whether in a private or public school.
After providing an elaborate list bearing the names of teachers whose services had been revoked, the Gazette notice further revealed that the individuals were deregistered from the TSC effective January 7, 2025.
