Financial –Government has confirmed that it is running on dry Treasury, making it difficult to finance most of the important activities and projects in the country.
Treasury Cabinet Secretary, CS Njunguna Ndung’u, who was speaking in meeting with Members of Parliament on Saturday February 8, confirmed this fear that there was a financial challenge in the country hence making it difficult to lower the cost of living.
The CS confirmed that government is facing financial difficulties to fund some of its key programs as well as to pay civil service their monthly salaries.
“If you are living in this country, you must be knowing the challenges we have with our resources. It is something we have to resolve. We have a resource constraint. There is no money, and we have to help ourselves,” Ndung’u stated.
On Friday April 8, reports went viral that the country was collapsing under the weight of financial crisis and debts with Ugunja Member of Parliament MP Opiyo Wandayi taking a swipe at the William Ruto-led government.
He complained that, upto now, their March 2023 salaries had not yet been disbursed, something he described as strange since independence.
