New -Killed city businessman Bashir Mohamed must have died for business related reasons. Details now emerge.
According to the Standard, Bashir was a highly connected young businessman who only mingled with top government officials who helped push through his lucrative tenders . He would get tenders worth upto 2.53 billion from government of Uhuru Kenyatta alone.
Before he went missing on May 13 and finally found dead, the slain astute businessman had been awarded two earth-shuttering business deals.
For instance, in November last year 2020, he won a sh 729 million tender from the State Department for Housing and Urban Development which falls under the Ministry of Transport, Infrastructure, Housing, Urban Development and Public.
“The duration of the contract – which you expressed interest in on September 22, 2020- will be 16 weeks from the date of commencement, which will be duly communicated,” the tender award notice dated November 26, 2020 partly read.
His fast rising Infinity Development Limited which changed its name from Horn Constriction Company was launched in 2000. He bought it out from other investors and quickly rebranded it.
Bashir managed to use the name to land mega government projects which included sh 600 million Uhuru Business Park in Kisumu which he accompanied President Uhuru Kenyatta to inspect and finally open.
The slain man had also won himself another sh1.8 billion tender to put up Prisons in the neighbouring Mogadishu in Somalia.
Further, before he was discovered dead and his car wrecked by fire, his firm Infinity Development Limited was battling a corporate war with another firm; which dispute spilled upto the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority PPRA.
He was murdered following his dramatic kidnap in Kilimani Nairobi by unknown persons. His mutilated body would three days later be found dumped in a river in Kerugoya Kirinyaga County while his car had been burnt to ashes.
