Fraud –Safaricom Employee is in court for obtaining a sum of sh 1.4 million through Fuliza fraud.
Dennis Mutethia Muiga – a software engineer at the giant Telco – on Thursday November 26 was dragged to court for adjusting Fuliza credit limits for his friends and in turn sharing the loot.
He was brought at a Kibera court where he, however, denied all the charges before Senior Principal Magistrate Maroro Minica.
Investigation report claimed that the accused as an engineer of financial services system planning and software at Safaricom used to alter clients’ limits between October 24 and 31.
It was established that on October 24, 30 and 31, Fuliza limits of 14 lines were deliberately adjusted upwards to abnormal limits ranging between sh 100,000 and sh 10 million.
He stole the said money by allowing other persons who purported to be his friends to use different Safaricom lines to sex up their limits from sh 3,500 to sh 50,000 and then get credit through Fuliza amounting to sh 1.4 million – a sum he is being held responsible for.
And defending himself, Mr. Muga urged the court to be lenient on him by offering lenient bond terms adding that he was not at flight risk.
He would then be released on a sh 1 million bond or sh 500,000 cash bail as the matter was scheduled for mentioning on early December.
