Budgets -President William Ruto has been warned against slashing ministries’ expenditure since this could be counterproductive.
Parliamentary Budget Office PBO’s analysis has weighed on the debate saying such a move may see staff in various ministries slow down and which may bring important services to jeopardy.
In his plan, Ruto wants to reduce government spending in various ministries which he feels there has been a lot of wastage, then pump atleast sh 300 billion into the ailing Kenyan economy
This presidential directive will see budget cuts implemented on items such as hospitality, printing and domestic and foreign travel.
President Ruto wants to see the economy improve now seven months since he took power and there has not been visible changes.
However, he has been warned that any move towards touching on ministries’ budget will require a delicate balancing act so that not to disrupt normal operations.
