Budget –President William Ruto has announced a sh 11 billion reduction of traveling budget in his government.
Addressing today Saturday October 27 during his tour in Central Kenya, Dr. Ruto said his eyes are now focused on making sure extravagant foreign trips are brought to an end.
Making a clarification from what was reported by the media that he had cut the budget by only sh 500 million, Ruto stated that he had indeed slashed the budget by sh 11 billion.
“Let me say it here that what the newspapers said yesterday that I had only made a reduction by sh 500 million is not true, I reduced by sh 11 billion,” said Ruto.
He said the era of wasting government resources will end so that this money canbe used to develop the country.
Ruto disclosed that government officials have been making unnecessary foreign trips every day some which do not add value to the country.
“If you are a government official, use your own money to entertain yourself. Don’t use government resources to go for your family’s shopping. This must now come to and end,” said Ruto.
He also announced that all arms of government- judiciary, executive and legislature – will henceforth get only a half (50%) of the budget they have been receiving annually.
His orders coming against the back drop of public outrage on his many trips abroad.
