Retrenchment –Staff at Nation Media Group are reported to be in a panic mode after a sacking circular was availed to them this Friday November 4.
An insider indicated that tension started building up early morning at the Kimathi Street-based media station when the retrenchment circular was officially issued.
The sad news was delivered by Group Chief Executive Officer CEO Stephen Gitagama during the morning newsroom meeting which took place on the third floor.
This, he said, is part of the restructuring exercise on the business model of the entire news room done specifically to suit the emerging technological trends.
In the tension-packed meeting, there were unsettled voices as staff were thrown into total confusion fearing for the outcome.
This retrenchment, will hit hard the newspaper division which is naturally fading away as a result of reduced readership and sales.
