Fraud -Most bankers steal millions from clients’ accounts in a heist that is not easy to uncover. George Juma now a detainee has revealed.
In his recent sit down interview with a local media house, George Juma who is serving his 2 concurrence sentences in jail after he was found to have been carrying out the fraud while serving as a banker in a supervisory rank, said everyday people are losing money from their accounts without noticing since every account is robbed sh 1 which makes it difficult to suspect.
From his confession, it were his bosses who lured him to this business of stealing money from accounts until clients started complaining is when he found himself confessing since he knew eventually he would be nabbed through investigations. He was then held responsible alone.
He also revealed that the first time they tried this they managed to steal a whopping sh 17 million from several clients’ accounts and this became an interesting normal exercise.
“The first job we got away with 17 M then next 11 M… Clients would loose a shilling per day for a whole year before he was discovered, fired, arrested and imprisoned,” revealed Juma.
The remorseful Juma is a qualified banker who graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and had worked for a year in the bank.
After which, he was awarded a scholarship by his employer to pursue his 2nd Degree in Economics and Finance in the USA. While there he also got a high ranking leadership position to represent all African students in the university. After graduating, he returned to Kenya to continue with his work.
