A section of Senators now want all interns absorbed in the departments they are serving after their course is complete.
Speaking in the Parliamentary session on Thursday October 30, Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei said, it beats logic to use public resources in training young men and women only to leave them out there after their internship is complete.
The politician, who was supporting Senator Katuri Murungi’s submissions in the Senate added that this is the only sure way of reducing joblessness in the country.
“I want to support Katuri Mjrungi on Public Service Commission and interns in the country. Why give interns jobs and don’t absorb them yet we have used government resources.
“I want to urge the Public Service Commission to start reabsorbing them(interns) in State cooperatives,” he added.
Mr. Cherargei, therefore, called upon the Public Service Commission (PSC) to confirm the interns into permanent and pensionable terms.
