Payments –All Kenya Power and Lighting Company KPLC customers have been alerted about a change in the way they have been paying their bills.
The State owned Kenya Power utility company has kicked out all third party payment agents who have been receiving funds on its behalf.
It mentioned that this is being part of the new efforts to centralize revenue collection from customers across the country.
This will also help them easily monitor their cash flow from users across the nation following reports of leakages and delays.
Several businesses had sprouted around the country as venders of prepaid electricity token in the guise of digital firms which the company had permitted to be collecting payments on its behalf.
“Please note that no other third-party agent is authorised to offer these services on behalf of KPLC. The Company will therefore not take liability for any transaction conducted through any other platform,” partly read the Notice from the utility provider.
Recently the KPLC reported a net profit of sh 3.82 billion for the six months to December 2021 which is a good surge from sh 138.36 million of 2020.
