Finance Bill –Kenyans on social media have started sharing mobile numbers of their MPs to force them to vote against the Finance Bill 2024.
On Thursday June 13 morning, hashtag #RespectMyHustle was started by influential X personality Amerix and it quickly picked momentum with the masses on X.
He used the tag to rally the country against MPs who are planning to support the ‘punitive Bill’ as the D-day fast approaches.
The hashtag, luckily, galvanized Kenyans into action who started calling out their respective MPs as they also shared out their mobile numbers.
Amerix rolled out a list of phone numbers belonging to various legislators, encouraging his followers and Kenyans, at large, to boldly share more numbers.
Soon enough, things started heating up, more people joined the bandwagon, more phone numbers were made public and the trend spread like bush fire.
“Call Mr. Ndindi Nyoro, MP Kiharu Constituency. Jam his phone with texts & calls to reject the finance bill. Remind him that he was elected to represent the voice of Kiharu. Kiharu have a right to call, text, remind, and recall their MP!” Amerix shared the post.
Numbers of Silvanus Osoro, Gideon Kimaiyo, Mohammed Tubi, Peter Salaysa, Patrick Simiyu, Dan Wanyama, Reuben Kiborek, John Paul Mwirigi, Kimani Ichungwa, Jessica Mbalu, Wambugu Maina and hundreds more were shared out as well.
X personality Wesley Kibande, alone, shared out over 30 phone numbers as hundreds more jammed the comment section with yet more.
The move caught the attention of Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina and Senator Sifuna who both said the action was long awaited.
