News -National Treasury has released a whopping sh 519 million for both ODM and Jubilee Parties.
Reports with the media revealed that as Raila Odinga’s ODM Party received sh 165,252,076 million, Jubilee Party on the other hand pocketed a staggering sh 353, 856,428 being money meant to cater for second, third and fourth quarters.
According to Homenews.co.ke, Registrar of Political Parties Anne Nderitu defended the move saying only two parties – ODM and Jubilee – met the Constitutional threshold for the cash.
“Only two political parties have met the constitutional threshold to get the public money through the Political Parties Fund,” Anne Nderitu stated.
She took the opportunity to urge those who feel the allocation was done unfairly to make their appeals official through the right channels.
The development reportedly has left in the cold other lesser parties despite the fact that they are also gearing towards fronting presidential candidates in the next elections.
Through the Gazette Notice seen by media, Law allows the beneficiaries to utilize the millions in their political activities including campaigns rallies.
This money is coming at the time NASA coalition parties are fighting for the last disbursement which they claim ODM Party stuck with it. On the other hand, DP William Ruto is also not in talking terms with his Jubilee boss Uhuru Kenyatta.
