Life in the US -A Kenyan who migrated to the United States of America 12 years ago has shared his experience in the land of honey and milk.
Going by his social/Tikotok name @thekenyanamerican, he compared his life in Kenya and now in America saying, in the US, life was better because of great support system and opportunities which are vast.
He urged those who can apply for the American Greencard/Visa to do so because in US, life was better for anyone who knows how to work hard. He disclosed that most Kenyans who live in America must succeed because they know how to work hard on any type of job they come across.
That once in the US, opportunities are plenty and it is easier for hustlers to end up getting anything to do, unlike in Kenya where working opportunities are rare and underpaid.
“I have lived in America for 12 years and if someone came and asked me which place between home and America (is better)- life in both places is very different.
“But if you are a hustler, if life has really beat you down, if you have tarmacked for so long without getting a job- life is so hard at home.
“You’d go to Uhuru Park and find people with brown envelopes who have circulated their resumes and they are so tired,” he added.
He, nonetheless, said that those lucky Kenyans with great jobs in Kenya have no reason to relocate to the US because it will not be easy to get a great job in the US.
“But the first thing I can say is that if you are in Kenya and you have a great job and your life is going great, there is no reason for you to come to America,” he advised further.
The social media user also said, among other things one loses once he or she arrives in the US, is Kenyan culture through a culture shock.
He confirmed that the American environment supports job seekers better; unlike in Kenya where everyone is left to struggle with his papers and whether he or she gets something to do or not is no government’s business.
