Green Card –Any Kenyan now willing to relocate to the US can make their green card applications from Wednesday October 5, 2022.
The US embassy in Nairobi has notified that the applications will run through until November 8, 2022 in a lottery program which is referred to as Diversity Visa.
This is purely a US State Department program in which a lottery basis of upto 55,000 Green Cards are availed to those nations with historically low rates of immigration to the US.
The Green Card program has been the only sure way through which Kenyans or other nationals can migrate to the United States, permanently.
When one makes an application in October through the official portal, results are scheduled to be available from May the following year.
For DV-2024, countries that are not eligible include Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, China (including Hong Kong SAR), Colombia, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Haiti, Honduras, India, Jamaica, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, South Korea, United Kingdom (except Northern Ireland) and its dependent territories, Venezuela, and Vietnam.
It is equally important to note that only allowed participants can apply. This are from eligible nations across the world.
Anybody with a high school education or just two years of working experience is allowed to try his luck in the program.
All registrations for entry into the lottery are exclusively done free of charge online by submitting Form DS-5501 on the DV program website.
