News -Those running hotels and bars in the country have been cautioned against flouting Covid-19 guidelines.
Cabinet Secretary for Tourism Mr. Najib Balala today Tuesday August 3 warned every player in the sector to respect the guidelines laid down by the Ministry of Heath.
In his address, all eateries will require all customers to put on their face-masks with one meter social distancing strictly observed.
“Despite of double vaccines, we must wear masks and keep social distance. Our position after the emergency meeting of Cabinet on Covid-19, we are very clear that every sector needs to be on the forefront. Enforcement is the key.
“Enforcement must be done by the industry itself. We have agreed there will be self-regulating. We will have an enforcement team led by Tourism Regulatory Authority,” he said as quoted by Homenews.co.ke.
Those who will be caught flouting the guidelines will be charged, licenses revoked and shamed on the list of shame so that customers can keep off them.
“We have agreed, and especially for pubs and bars which break the law, we shall shame them so that people do not destroy the sector. We will take action on those individuals. Even their licenses will be cancelled for one year,” Balala added.
The CS however observed that there have been a good number of players who have respected the rules.
