Spend –Government spent only sh 10 million on private jet chartered by the Kenyan delegation to the United States of America, recently.
President William Ruto has, today Thursday May 30, revisited the confusion on his recent State tour in the United States of America U.S.A saying, the debate on the cost of his travel was blown out of proportion.
Speaking at the Safari Park in the morning prayer breakfast, the head of State defended his decision to travel in an private hired jet, saying, it costed the Republic of Kenya less than 10 million shillings.
Ruto, while addressing attendants, explained, for the first time how friends from elsewhere decided to support his tour on less than sh 10M.
“I am not a mad man. When I was told the cheapest is 70M, I decided to ask my office to go for Kenya Airways. But when friends of mine heard that I was going to board Kenya Airways, they asked me how much are you ready to pay and I said 20M and they said bring 10M we give you the plane,” President Ruto explained.
He noted that, for government officials to adhere to the new directive on posterity measures, he as the head of State must lead from the front.
“I must lead from the front as I tell others to tighten up their belts, mine must be where to begin. So, relax,” he quipped.
Dr. Ruto, therefore, urged the country to end the debate which he termed as unnecessary because he is a responsible State official who knows what to do.
