Career –Ms Ivy Chelimo rose to national stardom after she tweeted a comment during the heated Rigathi Gachgua-Martha Karua deputy Presidential debate held on 19th July, 2022.
The breakthrough tweet was sent at exactly 9:11PM and was aimed at throwing a banter at the William Ruto’s running mate, Rigathi Gachagua who by that time had not been well-received.
She took a swipe at Mr Gachgua for not mentioning anything to do with ‘freedom’ which the Kenya Kwanza brigade and supporters countrywide had made their daily gospel.
“Riggy G amekataa kutaja freedom,” the brief tweet that broke the camel’s back read.
Immediately she dropped the tweet, thousands of young Kenyans were attracted to the new nickname and, in unison, picked it from there.
Spreading like bush fire, the name would then reach the owner, now sworn in Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua who had adopted the nickname as his political brand name.
In one of her recent interviews, Ivy recounted how she was afraid of mentioning Gachagua or any other politician by name due to the legal repurcations.
“You might mess around and mention a politician’s name and get in trouble, but I needed something that would make the youth get aware of the debate,” she told DP Gachagua.
And now the Deputy President himself has eventually rewarded the creativity with a plum State job at Harambee House Annex.
He gave her a ‘Riggy G’ brand initiator job during the World Food Day event held in Kajiado County on Monday October 17.
