Over one hundred workers at Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua office have been ordered home on what is referred to as ‘compulsory leave’.
In an official notice seen by sections of the media, the move to send the staff home is informed by the ongoing Constitutional changes in the office of the DP.
In a letter by Principal Administrative Secretary Patrick Mwangi and copied to Chief of Staff and Head of the Public Service Felix Koskei, employees in various job groups have been directed to take compulsory leave immediately from Saturday 19 October.
“Following the ongoing constitutional process affecting his excellency the Deputy President it has been decided as follows: all officers in job groups T and U are hereby and instructed to proceed on compulsory leave with immediate effect,” reads part of the notice.
Among those sent on leave are: Wanjiku Wakogi, (Chief of Staff), Ibrahim Rashid Ahmed (Advisor), Jane Wangui Kiringai (Advisor) , Paul Tirimba Machogu (Advisor), Murimi Murimo Mirage (Advisor), Catherine Njeri Rugene (Advisor), Nancy Wambui Kangethe (Chief of Staff OSDP) and George Theuri (Advisor).
Additionally, others include: Munene Gathodu (Private Secretary), Eric Gichuhi Wachira (Deputy Chief of Staff), Margaret Winnie Muthoni Namusonge (Advisor), Martin Deric Ngujiri Wambugu (Advisor), Richard Nzioka Muteti (Advisor) and Allan Waweru Mburu (Advisor).
Leonard Saningo Ngaluma (Secretary Administration), Jefwa Arnold Mkare (Secretary Administration), Rose Wangari Gakuo (Secretary, State Functions) and Mwongela Francis Mikwa (Secretary Press services) were also directed to proceed on leave.
The affected were directed to designate, in writing, a responsible officer to be in-charge of their respective departments.
