Scoop -Kenya’s bank notes are always printed in Nairobi by a security printer De La Rue Limited.
De La Rue is a money printer and which has operated in the country for more than 25 years.
In a 2019 new contract with the government of Uhuru Kenyatta, it was given another three year long task to print new notes into the system.
The money printing facility is located along Thika Super Highway just next to the Kenya School of monetary Studies.
Currently, the firm is investing more into its Nairobi based factory as part of their long term plan to becoming a regional and Pan African security printer.
The company also prints cheque books and Passports among other several important documents. For instance, it was the first ever company to be credited for Visa Card and Mastercard personalization. De La Rue further has invested in the latest chip and Pin smart technology and capabilities.
As of now, it is concentrating on changing the images found on Kenyan currency as per the requirements of the new Constitution.
