Passport –Police have today noon arrested about four persons with regard to the passport dealings at Nyayo House ,Nairobi.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations DCI, on Wednesday August 30, moved with speed to the Nyayo House in the CBD and managed to arrest the four individuals suspected to be running a passport syndicate to the detriment of the public.
The arrest coming at the time millions of Kenyans raised an uproar over delayed travel document processing.
The four were arrested after the DCI officers rounded them up, picked them to the Central Police Station where they were booked.
Interior Cabinet Secretary Prof Kithure Kindiki last week warned cartels at the Nyayo House of consequences.
He promised to spearhead a thorough clean up exercise to get rid of such cases.
“We will take very drastic action, if need be we will seal off the place and declare it a scene of crime. We will rid that place of all criminals including the brokers who extort money around there,” CS Kindiki said.
The government admitted that corruption is so endemic at the Immigration Department at Nyayo House that it’s contemplating sealing it off as a crime scene.
