Scoop -Nairobi based media tycoon S. K Macharia has lost court battle to his grandson Adam Kamau over late son’s Estate worth sh1.2 billion.
The Nairobi High Court issued orders that revoked the administration letters which had been issued to Macharia allowing him to manage the multi-million estate.
“The circumstances dictate that this court relooks the issues of representation in this estate afresh and make appropriate orders after hearing the parties. It is also clear to me that as at the time the two grants were issued, the sole beneficiary was a minor,” said Justice Stella Mutuku.
For quite some time now, Royal Media Services business mogul S. K. Macharia has been involved in a protracted battle with son over the family empire.
In the details seen by media, the estate in contest comprises shares in more than six companies dealing in insurance, communication and real estate.
The court papers listed Directline Insurance, Serenity Media Production Ltd, Big Five Conservancy, Bushfire Media Distributors, Toi Redevelopment and Habour Capital Ltd.
Also in the dispute are nine cars which includes two Range Rovers, Land Rover, Jaguar, Jeep, Porsche 911, BMW, Trailer and Land Rover Discovery.
Further, four motorbikes and five residential houses located in Nayuki, Loresho in Nairobi, Kyuna crescent in Nairobi, Kibagare in Nairobi and Mugumo crescent in Nairobi city.
Adam Kamau – Macharia’s grandson – wrote in the court papers that he is the only grandson to John Githia Macharia (son to Macharia) who died in a road accident in 2018.
Gichia was until his demise, the executive director at Directline Insurance Company who succumbed to injuries following an a fatal road crash along Southern Bypass. He would shortly be pronounced dead at Karen Hospital.
