Office –Mr. Andrew Musangi has been nominated as the new Chairperson of the Central bank of Kenya.
President William Ruto made the nomination – on Thursday August 17 – in an announcement made by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula.
“Pursuant to the provisions of Standing Order number 42, I wish to convey a message from His Excellency the President regarding the nomination of Andrew Mukite Musangi for appointment as Chairperson of the Board of the Central Bank of Kenya,” Wetang’ula said.
Mr. Musangi’s name has also been forwarded to Parliament for vetting after he was picked from a group of six candidates shortlisted by the Public Service Commission (PSC).
The nominee is now set to undergo normal vetting by the Departmental Committee on Finance and National Planning as well as Senate Standing Committee on Finance and Budget.
Musangi, who is a non-executive director at Centum Investment Company Limited, is the son-in-law of the late billionaire businessman Chris Kirubi.
