Services –Telkom Kenya users in most parts of the country have been left struggling with lack of steady network now the fourth week.
Many subscribers have reported lack of network in their Telkom lines but the government parastatal, instead, has been silent on them.
In fact, according to those who have been affected and can rant on social media, there was no any communication in form of notice to them from the company.
Parts of the country like Kakamega, Kisumu and around Nairobi, have been lacking network with users counting losses of their subscriptions.
A source from the company told Homenews.co.ke, that the main reason there has been prolonged blackout is because of debts the service provider has with contractors.
A few week ago, the American Towers Corporation (ATC) switched off half of its masts spread across the country over a sh 200 million pending bill.
In 2013, Telkom sold 723 base stations to ATC on a sale and leaseback agreement to cut on operation costs. Moreover, this saw Communications Workers Union COWU ask the government to inject funds into Telkom Kenya to save the company from imminent collapse.
Today, the government reportedly owes Telkom, over sh 2 billion for services rendered.
