Royalties –Music Copyright Society of Kenya MCSK has given out a whopping sh 20 million to local nartistes.
In a meeting held on Friday and which saw thousands of singers and rappers attend, MCSK said it had succeeded in collecting money in royalties from various media and entertainment businesses around the country.
In that regard, it assured a January distribution of a whopping sh 20 million to artistes.
It stated that the money to be distributed include general distribution as well as royalties for every registered singer.
Over 16,000 artists will be benefiting as top earner Rehema Lugose receives sh 757,092 and the lowest payout set at sh5,000.
Nyashinski, Octopizzo, Bien, Marakwet Daughter (Mali Safi Chito) Steve K, Jua Cali among others, received payouts in excess of sh100,000 each.
