Practicing –Quack lawyer Brian Njagi Mwenda has continued receiving attention from some quarters following his court story that exposed him as a fake lawyer.
COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli in a long-worded statement has asked the Kenyan learning system to put into consideration the prior learning skills as a pre-requisite for employment or university entry.
Atwoli, while defending Mwenda, said it will be wrong to punish brilliant minds like Mwenda on account of practicing law without a law degree.
“COTU (K) calls upon the government of Kenya to take this opportunity to actualize Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) in Kenya. RPL is a proven mechanism for recognizing the diverse learning pathways of our citizens and for harnessing the untapped talents that can drive our nation forward.
“COTU (K), finally, would like to inform Brian Njagi that we are available and ready to support him to ensure that his dreams are actualized,” a statement from Atwoli read in part.
Atwoli was supported by former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko who has already flown Brian to Mombasa awaiting to support him go through the vigorous court suit.
Sonko cautioned the Law Society of Kenya LSK against condemning the young lawyer and threatening to sue him.
He therefore assured the authorities that Brian will be availed to the DCI on Monday or Tuesday morning and supported allthrough this difficult moments.
“I want to ask LSK President to have some empathy to this young and bright mind. He has not killed anybody with a knife or a panga,” Sonko stated.
Breaking his silence, Brian has said that he will be at the DCI offices on Monday for his statement and asked Kenyans to pray for him.
