Funds –Major parties in the country – ODM and UDA – will be pocketing millions of monies in political parties’ fund disbursements current financial year 2023/2024.
Apart from ODM and UDA parties, other medium and small political outfits will also be gaining from the current disbursements.
“The Registrar of Political Parties gives notice that the following forty-eight (48) political parties are eligible to receive funds from the Political Parties Fund (PPF) during the Financial Year 2023/2024,” the gazette notice read in parts.
Breakdown of the Funding
As President William Ruto’s UDA receive sh 576.9 million, ODM owned by Raila Odinga and Jubilee by former president Uhuru Kenyatta will bag a whopping sh 308.2 million and sh 135.2 million in that order.
On the other hand, Martha Karua’s Narc-Kenya Party will get its fair share of sh 7.6 million while ANC owned by Musalia Mudavadi will have its share of sh 26.6 million.
“The allocated funds will be distributed on a quarterly basis upon receipt from the National Treasury,” the registrar announced through a Gazette Notice released on September 29, 2023.
Kalonzo Musyoka’ Wiper Party will be getting its 72.2million of the political parties fund this financial period.

Moreover, Wetang’ula’s Ford Kenya is getting sh 25.8 million, Gideon Moi’s KANU gets sh 24 million, UDM pockets sh 26.9 million and Maendeleo ChapChap goes away with sh12.7 million.

Apart from membership fees, contributions and foreign/local donations, political parties in the country also get their share of sh 0.3 percent from the Treasury.
