Appointed –Former Executive Vice President and Managing Director, Viacom International Media Networks Africa and BET International, Alex Okosi, has been hired by Google Africa.
The seasoned media, entertainment, and tech leader will henceforth take up the position of Managing Director for Google in the continent.
He will be tasked with Googles operations including programs to help businesses and economies on the continent to grow.
Moreover, the professional will work to see consumers of Google enjoy an easy access according to what they like by expanding products and providing tools to help the next billion users get more from the Web.
Meir Brand, Vice President, EMEA Emerging Markets at Google, made the announcement on Tuesday September 5 in Nairobi.
“Alex is a proven leader with a wealth of experience in the media and technology industries. He has a deep understanding of African countries and a passion for using technology to empower people and businesses,” Meir remarked.
Mr. Okosi is a seasoned media, entertainment, and technology leader. Who has been Viacom International Media Networks Africa and BET International.
In his most recent position at YouTube, he played a pivotal role in steering the platform’s growth and expansion across Africa, the Middle East, and Turkey.

In Africa, Google has been active now more than 20 years with offices in four African countries Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, and South Africa.
