Arrested –Directorate of Criminal Investigation DCI detectives in Nairobi have today arrested Chief Executive Officer at Victoria Commercial Bank Mr. Yogesh Pattni.
The DCI banking Fraud Unit reportedly linked the suspect to West Kenya Sugar director Jaswant Rai’s money laundering activities.
Nonetheless, Until now, it is not clear whether Pattni was being questioned over links with Rai or the accusations are completely independent.
Pattni, the Harvard-trained executive, heads one of the largest private banks in Kenya, Victoria Commercial Bank, which serves mostly private companies and wealthy business people.
A source intimated that, after his arrest, the businessman was driven directly to the DCI headquarters along Kiambu Road for interrogation.
The source, however, did not clarify whether he was arrested from his place of work or picked from the highway.
On Saturday, as shown in the CCTV footage, billionaire Rai was dramatically forced out of his car, after two men driving a double cab, blocked his way on Wood Avenue.
The gang then bundled him into their car and sped away with him leaving his car parked in the middle of the road.
Shortly, President Ruto would make comments bordering on the tycoon where he warned the sugar dealer of consequences in the sugar industry.
President Ruto, speaking in Bungoma on Sunday, said he will not listen to Mr. Rai or any other person who might be part of those killing the sugar sector in the larger Western Kenya.
