Crypto –Founders at the controversial Crtypto company dubbed Worldcoin have responded to Kenya over their activities in the country.
Led by Alex Blania – also founder – have said that their operations in the country are above board and that the data they have since collected was safe and cannot be misused in any way.
This is after weeks of collecting biometrics from Kenyans who were promised free Crypto token of sh 7,000 from the tech firm.
In their statement to Kenya’s government on Thursday August 3, any data which they are collecting will be used to create what they referred to as World ID that will be safe and secure method to store and protect human data.
“Tools for Humanity (TFH) has paused World ID verifications in Kenya as we continue to work with local regulators to address their questions. We apologise to everyone in Kenya for the delay,” he stated.
In their explanation, the World ID is a digital identification method that allows one to prove that they are unique and real persons while remaining anonymous.
This strange technology sees users having their irises scanned by a device called the Orb. The scanning exercise was organized and has been ongoing at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre KICC in Nairobi.
However, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki, on Wednesday, August 2, suspended their operations after days of long queues in their operation centers.
Further, Prof Kindiki who differed with his ICT counterpart Eliud Owalo on the status of the company, banned other data collection centers countrywide.
