Government –Government of Kenya has gobbled a whooping sh 5 billion in the ongoing drought mitigation exercise around the country.
Speaking on Al Jazeera on Sunday February 19, President William Ruto explained that his government had not started its development projects because of the drought currently ravaging the country.
“We have already spent close to Ksh30 billion on feeding, accessing food for livestock, and water tracking, and we will reorganize our budget further.
“We are re-assigning resources meant for development, schools, hospitals to feed people, livestock, and this year we are going to have failed rains,” President Ruto stated on Al jazeera.
From his confession, it could be assumed that government was spending a whopping sh 166 million per day to mitigate drought effects.
Asked about how he has been spending international loans, the president explained that the high cost of development loans from world lenders to African nations has been very hard for his country to access the funding.
