Security –Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has revealed troubling intrigues surrounding security situation in North Rift Region.
Addressing during a leaders urgent security meeting held in Nakuru on Sunday February 12 afternoon, Natembeya told President William Ruto to be careful not to be lured by red-carpet receptions which are always misleading.
He revealed that whatever was happening in North Rift as far as insecurity was concerned is happening because top local leaders are involved.
“Mr. President be careful with this red-carpet reception. This will not tell you the correct picture on the ground. Big men will receive you and escort you back to the chopper just to make sure you do not see the challenges on the ground,” he told Ruto.
Natembeya told the president that when he was still the Regional Commissioner Rift Valley, he used to hold security meetings with the cartels that ran the cattle rustling in the region because majority of them were in leadership.
And due to that, he would recommend to the State what to do but at the end when the police are send in the area to conduct patrols, they search elsewhere where they bomb just to spare the real culprits.
Ruto would quickly respond by ordering his Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki to pitch camp in the Region until sanity is restored.
“I have told Professor Kindiki to move away from the comfort of the city and go camp in North Rift until that sanity is guaranteed,” Ruto ordered.
The meeting was taking place after three police officers, on Sunday February 12, were shot dead by armed bandits terrorizing the area.
The officers were shot dead by gunmen believed to be armed bandits in Turkana County.
