Sacking –-Nation Media Group NMG has relieved duty their long-serving news anchor, Mark Maasai.
Among a few more, the NTV Prime Time news anchor was not lucky when the axe was announced to fall in an exercise that is meant to trim employee numbers at the Kimathi Street-based station.
While exiting stage, Mr. Maasai told his fans that he will be back on the screen and assured that this is as soon as possible. Though he did not say when.
He also took time to thank his employer for having had faith in him for all these years before he shared a few clips of 2008 when he started his role in the mainstream media.
“NTV is a great team! These are different times. Was a great show. Time for short a commercial break. I’ll be back!” he promised.
He detailed that, for the time being, he will be working on other personal projects to keep his fans busy.
“This is the reality of the media landscape around the world and unfortunately, I was at the losing end of this one.
“However, this is not the end of my career in the media, I will be back on other platforms. All I have to say is watch this space,” he further told Capital FM.
Maasai’s dramatic sacking is happening at the time the station is grappling with huge numbers of employees most of whom had already been rendered jobless by the emerging digital trends.
After Maasai, more exits could follow in few days to come.
