Sports –Ferdinand Omanyala on Wednesday August 3 won Gold Medal in the ongoing Commonwealth games in Birmingham.
He managed to clock 10:02 seconds to beat his competitors under a windy situation hence becoming the first Kenyan, after Seraphine Antao of 1960, to win the prize in a key championship.
South African Akani Simbine bagged Silver in 10:13 seconds as Sri Lankan Yukun Abeykoon running away with Bronze Medal.
Leader have taken to their specific social media platforms to congratulate the sprinter for making the country proud again.
“Kenya’s gem and Africa’s fastest man @Ferdiomanyala gets gold at the Commonwealth Games, clocking 10.02 seconds. What a man! We are proud of you,” Ruto commented.
In the recent World Athletics Champions held in Oregon USA, Omanyala bowed out at Semis due to injury reasons.
