Tech -Jumia Kenya is on the spot after allegedly delivering a false electronic gadget to one of their Nairobi clients.
Former Kiambu County Governor William Kabogo exposed the online vendor for delivering what he had not asked for.
Mr. Kabogo explained how he saw a gadget advertised on the popular E-Commerce platform and quickly made his order only for the company to bring something else. He claimed that what was delivered was not what he had asked and paid for.
“It is wrong to advertise one thing and deliver the other. This amounts to false or misleading representation,” he tweeted.

The agitated client now wants the Competition Authority of Kenya (CAK) to investigate the online shopping platform for taking advantage of their virtual clients.
Last year, Jumia was also on the spot for false advertisement as a number of their local clients complained that the firm was advertising one thing and delivering another.
“They sent me a counterfeit iPhone 8plus which cost me 47k…I returned it to them but they said ati my return reason is invalid and indicated ‘delivered’ when I had not received the product yet,” Kiprono complained.
The online vendor’s profits were heavily affected last year over the complaints. Records showed that it recorded an operating loss of $51.6 million (sh 5.1 billion) in Q2 2021, a 24.7 percent decrease from the Q2 of 2020.
