Tech -Former US President Donald Trump will not use Facebook platform anytime soon following a Wednesday decision by quasi-independent oversight board.
The vocal former president will also not be using Instagram platform just like Twitter and Youtube banned him too.
Facebook however made clear that the politician could later be allowed to return back to due to his huge fanbase believes in him.
The social media platform board comprises a total of 20 members who include legal scholars, activist and a section of experts who intensively deliberate on the ramifications of any decision. Five member panel would prepare the decision which then has to be approved by a majority of members in the full board which then has to be implemented by Facebook. But this can only be possible if there is nolonger a threat from such posts.
Facebook board’s main work is to get answers on how to protect and safeguard freedom of speech especially online, what to take down and what to block.
During the hotly contested general election which Donald Trump bitterly lost to Joe Biden, Facebook was forced to take down two inflammatory posts from the former president. It also banned him for 24 hours.
“These are the things and events that happen when a sacred landslide election victory is so unceremoniously viciously stripped away from great patriots who have been badly unfairly treated for so long,” his vicious post read before police rushed to the Capitol.
He would later follow it with another post that insinuated that he had achieved his ill motive of causing tension across the country.
“Go home with love in peace. Remember this day forever!”
Immediately, he made the post, Facebook next day extended the ban from 24 hours to indefinite. This was to make sure Biden and running mate Kamala Harris is inaugurated in peace.
