Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has today signed the establishment of Eastern Africa Regional Office of the United Cities and Local Government of Africa (UCLG-Africa) in Nairobi.
The event took place at his official residence in Karen where he remarked that the agreement gives away for the hosting in Nairobi of the (UCLG-Africa) regional headquarters.
“The crown jewel of Kenya’s transformative 2010 constitution is devolution, a most consequential paradigm that has dispersed public power to subnational level for better, faster and more efficient delivery of services to the people.
“Successful roll out of devolved government and sustainable well planned urban settlements will turbo-charge Kenya’s and indeed Africa’s priority agenda of empowerment of the citizens”.
Present were Jean Pierre Elong Mbassi(Secretary General of UCLG-Africa); Terry Mbaika(Principal Secretary, State Department for Devolution) and other officials.
