Labour and Social Protection Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua is facing a heavy backlash over the ongoing job recruitment exercise around the country.
During the National Job Recruitment Program event at Rift Valley National Polytechnic in Nakuru County, several youth who came hopping to get hired free of charge, received a shocker of the year after they were instructed to part with thousands first.
“I came here expecting a free job offer only to be given some papers belonging to a local bank to sign fpor a loan first,” one of the victims stated.
Due to this confusion, CS Mutua was shouted down by the frustrated youths who claimed they were misled into believing the program offered free opportunities to work abroad.
The attendees, drawn by promises of free employment in countries such as Australia, Qatar and Germany expressed outrage upon learning they would be required to pay for travel-related costs, including transport, medical examinations and other facilitation fees.
Those captured lodging complaints to the media shared that they were required to part with some fee which is a substantial amount for them to be considered.
