President William Ruto has nominated Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki as new Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya.
The head of State forwarded the name of Prof. Kindiki to the Parliament for consideration and vetting exercise after DP Rigathi Gachagua was removed on Thursday.
Speaker Moses Wetang’ula in today’s Parliament session announced that the CS had been nominated by President William Ruto as the new second in command.
“I have a message from the President on the nomination of Prof. Kithure Kindiki EGH. to fill the vacancy in the Office of the Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya.”
Prof. Kindiki, who has been serving in the capacity of Interior CS, had been one of the front-runners ever since the motion to impeach former DP Gachagua was tabled in the house by Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse.
