President William Ruto on Wednesday appointed former Nation Media and Standard Group Journalist Munyori Buku as new head of his communication service.
Buku was officially appointed and announced in a notice shared by the Statehouse today Wednesday October 9.
He had served as the Secretary for Public Communications at the State House and possesses a wealth of experience in strategic communication and media with over 26 years of experience working within both the public and private sectors.
The appointee also served as Senior Director of Public Communication at State House, Director of Communication in the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and Ministry of Finance, and Editorial Manager at the Kenya Yearbook Editorial Board.
In the private sector, Buku held key editorial positions, including Managing Editor at the Standard Group and Sub-Editor at the Nation Media Group, among other senior roles.
His career began in education, where he worked as a teacher in several high schools across Kenya for seven years between 1990 and 1997 before transitioning to media and communications.
In October 1998, he joined the Nation Media Group NMG where he worked for three years up to 2003 when he quit and joined the Standard Media Group. At Standard, Buku worked as a Managing Editor for the weekend editions.
